The Vibe

“If arriving by Taxi, inform your driver to head for The Four Seasons Hotel,” state the instructions on celebrity chef Tom Aiken’s website. This boldly positioned city site opened last summer, following the success of sister restaurants in Chelsea and Somerset House. Although located amongst the glimmering urban hub of Canary Wharf’s Westferry Circus, this deceptively large space manages to maintain Aiken’s focus on UK based suppliers, organic produce and wholesome living. The design is discreet; think gastro pub comfort over city boy slick, and there’s an excellent bar, outdoor terrace, private dining area and deli take away available too.

The Order

At the bar of Tom’s Kitchen, it’s acceptable for guys to have a beer (go for a Whitstable Bay and show that you don’t just drink Peroni), girls go for the “Sloe Negroni” or hit up the “Sherbet Bubbles”. Go three courses once you get to the restaurant – Burrata to start is fresh and light whilst the Ham Hock Terrine comes with superb sourdough bread. The steaks are excellent here as is the Seared Seabass. Get a bottle of the Montepulciano, and share

the Poached Rhubarb for a fruity finish.

The Game

Begin at the bar. It’s a good one – enough buzz, beautiful people and men in suits to make it feel date-y, yet with intimate booths and some quieter spots if you’re already smitten. Take your time here and get tipsy, then wander through to the restaurant – exclaiming at how much you love open kitchens as you pass. Afterwards, sneak a kiss at the fountains – it’s too good a chance to miss. Or there’s always the Four Seasons…..

It’s Canary Wharf. You’re not going to head there on a weekend, and if one of you doesn’t work here, it’s a bit of an ask.
